Dear teachers and friends,
At Caracol there are lots of butterflies, bugs, spiders, and scorpions. You have to put on long clothes. You have to stay in your hammock at night time and not come out. Last night there were no lights and a big, big tarantula came in. I like to climb Caana. We play in the play club [the round hut near the kitchen]. Mrs. Rita is our cook. I eat carrots, cake, tortillas, and powder buns. I miss Mrs. Caffery. I miss Mrs. Munoz and all my teachers. I miss D.J. and all my friends. I love all my friends at school and all of my teachers at school.
Love,
Elyse

Dear teachers and friends,
There are a lot of butterflies around Caracol and there are snakes and jaguars. There are bugs at Caracol. There are tarantulas and spiders. I have never seen a scorpion. Amy got stung by one, that is how I know. There is lots of green around here: the trees, the grass, the plants. There are lots of flowers. There are special ones from Caana that you put in water. I eat tortillas and carrots. I ate three hot dogs today at lunch. I eat cake when there is cake after I eat all of my food. Today, I got to go inside a helicopter, but I didn’t fly it. We are going to go to the San Ignacio Hotel soon. Every student is going to come.
Love,
Elyse

Dear teachers and friends,
Last night we made it back home. We drove in the car. We stayed in four hotels. I got a new tape player and listened to Barney songs. At Caracol there are butterflies everywhere. I learned how to make hearts, how to make a magic wand, and how to make letters. Today we watched TV and I cooked snacks in my oven. We only ate one pan. We will save the rest for if we eat all of our food. I am glad to be back home!
Love,
Elyse
